Riding for a Cause
ORCWA Charity Support Rounds
At the Offroad Riding Club of WA (ORCWA), we're passionate about more than just racing. Our club is built on community, and we believe in using our events to support causes that matter to our members, families and the wider community.
Each year, we dedicate selected championship rounds to raising awareness and funds for important charities, bringing riders, families, volunteers and supporters together to make a difference both on and off the track.
Purple Bra Day 2025
Supporting Breast Cancer Care WA
In 2025, ORCWA proudly partnered with Breast Cancer Care WA through our Purple Bra Day Charity Support Round.
The event saw riders, families and supporters embracing a sea of purple throughout the weekend, helping to raise awareness and funds for Western Australians impacted by breast cancer. From purple-themed merchandise and fundraising activities to rider participation and generous donations, the ORCWA community came together in a remarkable show of support.
Breast cancer affects thousands of Australian families every year, and through Purple Bra Day we were able to contribute towards the vital support services provided by Breast Cancer Care WA, helping individuals and families navigate their cancer journey.
The success of Purple Bra Day demonstrated the incredible generosity and spirit of the offroad community, proving that together we can make a meaningful impact beyond the race track.
Red Apple Day 2026
Supporting Bowel Cancer Australia
In 2026, ORCWA turned its focus to supporting Bowel Cancer Australia through our Red Apple Day Charity Support Round at the Bolgart Bash.
This cause holds particular significance within our ORCWA family, with committee member Melissa Ward personally affected by bowel cancer. The event provided an opportunity for the offroad community to stand together in support of those impacted by this devastating disease.
Riders were encouraged to suit up in their red riding gear, creating a sea of red across the venue in support of the cause. Every rider received a red ribbon to wear on their helmet, while red apple-themed scrutineering stickers and fundraising initiatives helped spread awareness throughout the weekend.
Why Bowel Cancer Matters
Bowel cancer is one of Australia's most common cancers and remains one of the nation's biggest cancer killers. Tragically, many Australians are diagnosed each year, with younger Australians increasingly being affected.
The good news is that bowel cancer is one of the most treatable cancers when detected early. Raising awareness about symptoms, screening and early detection can save lives.
Through Red Apple Day, ORCWA aimed to not only raise funds for Bowel Cancer Australia but also encourage important conversations around awareness, prevention and support for those affected.
More Than Racing
Our Charity Support Rounds are a reflection of what makes ORCWA special. While competition brings us together, it's the strength of our community and our willingness to support one another that defines who we are.
Whether it's wearing purple, riding in red, purchasing charity merchandise, making a donation or simply helping spread awareness, every contribution makes a difference.
Thank you to our riders, families, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who continue to help ORCWA turn race weekends into opportunities to create positive change.
Together, we're proving that offroad riders don't just race hard—they give back too.

🍎 Why This Matters
Bowel cancer is one of the most common and deadly cancers in Australia, yet it is also one of the most treatable when detected early. Each year, around 14,700–15,500 Australians are diagnosed, and more than 5,200 lives are lost to this disease.
What makes this cause even more important is that bowel cancer often develops without obvious symptoms in its early stages. However, when detected early, survival rates can be as high as 90%+ in the earliest stages, compared to significantly lower outcomes once the cancer has spread.
Shockingly, around 1 in 20 Australians will be diagnosed with bowel cancer in their lifetime, and rates in younger Australians are rising, highlighting the need for awareness at every age.
For our club, this cause is deeply personal. One of our own, Melissa Ward, has been directly affected by this disease. This round is about standing together as a community - raising awareness, supporting those impacted, and encouraging everyone to take early detection seriously.
A simple screening test can save lives.
At Bolgart, we’re not just racing
- we’re riding for a reason!
